| December 21, 2005 Hello to everyone. I know it's been a long time since we've updated the site. But, it's with this update that I finally bring the good news that we're pregnant. As of today we're a little over 3 months along and needless to say very excited. It was a surprise that came with mixed emotions when we were given our due date of June 30th, which is the anniversary date that Paige passed away. How strange is that? It was so amazing to see the heartbeat on the ultrasound at just 6 weeks when the baby itself was only the size of a grain of rice. Since finding out in October the doctors had me very limited with physical activity until these last 2 weeks because of my history of miscarriages. I was finally given the OK to return to work with the instructions to "take it easy." Not an easy thing to do with all the lifting. Thankfully I have some awesome friends at work that have been a huge help. Our trip to Maui in July was absolutely wonderful. We spent the first half of the trip in Lahaina where my sister-in-law Chistina's sister was married. Along with Jay, Christina and the kids, Andy's parents and his brother Brian and wife Kathy were also there for almost 2 weeks. The last five days of the trip Andy & I spent at the other end of the island in Wailea. We're so happy with our decision to take some time to spend alone. We can't say enough about the hotel (Fairmont Kea Lani). It had to be the most beautiful hotel we've ever stayed at. It was a trip we'll never forget. In mid October Jay & Christina came up for the weekend to attend the Michigan/ Penn State football game here in Ann Arbor. For all of you non-football fans who didn't watch the game let me give you a quick review. Penn State comes to the game undefeated... with 2 seconds left on the clock Michigan throws for a touchdown to win the game. Wow! What a heart stopping game :) Also in early October we had a big scare with our lab Levi. We had taken him to the vet to have a few small fatty tumors removed from his sides. Shortly after dropping him off I received a call from the vet saying that once they had him under general anesthesia the found a fairly large tumor in his abdomen. They performed an exploratory surgery and removed a tumor the size of a soccer ball that was attached to his stomach. They sent the tumor to Michigan State and we then found out a week later that is was benign. What a huge sigh of relief. He was pretty much back to normal within a few days despite an 18 inch incision on his belly. It's very hard to believe that Paige has been gone for almost 18 months. While this pregnancy brings us great joy, it also comes with the sadness that Paige won't be here to share the new baby with us. She would have been a proud big sister. Happy Holidays Andy & Sandi |
