December 29,2003  Monday
We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas at home.  Of course Paige loved opening up all of her gifts.  She was amazed that Santa and his reindeers had eaten all the cookies we left out for him.  The day quickly passed and Grandma and the gang came over for dinner.  By 10 p.m. I had the worse flu of my life which lasted about 6 hours.  The next morning Grandma picked Paige up in attempt to avoid her getting it.  Well, by the time they got there Grandma was sick also.  Thankfully Aunt Carla watched Paige.
Even though Paige somehow avoided the flu, she's continued to have a runny nose, slight cough and spiked temps since coming home from the hospital Christmas Eve.  We went in for bloodwork today (WBC 1.3, Platelets 32,000, Hgb 8.7, ANC 750) and she did have a temp of 100.7.  The ANC is a number that tells them how suseptible she is to infection.  They want it above 1000.  They said that if her ANC would have been below 500 and with the temp she would have been admitted for 10 days of IV antibiotic.  Since we're planning to leave for our Disney trip early Friday morning she will go in for
bloodwork Wednesday (New Years Eve) morning.  They will decide then if the trip will need to be postponed.  While it would be very disappointing, we certainly don't want to take any chances.  Please say a little prayer that Paige will be all better by Friday :)

Love,
Andy, Sandi & Paige
