| Wednesday July 21, 2004 Well, here we are 3 weeks since Paige passed away and it still doesn't seem real. It's just so hard to believe that all this has happened. Many ask how we're doing, and I guess you could say we're doing OK. Andy has been working on a few small projects and I'm still trying to organize a few things. I find it easier to stay as busy as possible. While I can't speak for Andy, nighttime is by far the hardest part of the day for me. It's the point of the day when you're supposed to relax and unwind, but it's when you finally slow down that you start to think about everything. We were planning to take a trip and had looked into Hawaii or somewhere in the Caribbean. But, we both agreed that we just want to spend time at home right now. I've spent the last 2 days on the computer trying to organize and copy all the pictures we've taken over the last 9 months onto CDs as a back up. Since we started using our digital camera in October we've only uploaded the pictures to the computer. Even though it's been a time consuming task with all the copying, it's something that had to be done. We would be so heartbroken if something happen to the computer and we lost all of our pictures of Paige. While it was a little sad looking at all the pictures, it also reminds us of all the good times we had. On Tuesday we met with Swartz to talk about some ideas for a headstone. We gave them some ideas of what we wanted and they're going to have the company they work with draw up a few rough drafts and go from there. Since it can take up to 4 months for a special order, we want to decide as soon as possible to make sure it arrives before winter. Everything seems to be moving in the right direction with the ReMax/Children's Miracle Network Garden Party fundraiser planned for August 28th. I give all the staff at ReMax a huge applause for all the hard work they're putting into this event. I know some of you are planning to attend and have asked about the silent auction items. As soon as I get a list I'll make sure to put them on the website. Speaking of fundraising... Susan and Teresa are two girls in our neighborhood who babysat Paige prior to diagnosis and continued to visit her after. Well, last week they stopped by with a flyer they had made about Paige's Playroom. They were planning to take it around the neighborhood to see if anyone would be interested in contributing. We were so touched that they would even think about doing something like this. Well, were we surprised when after two days they collected a whopping $1,200. Thank you girls and also everyone who made a donation towards the project! (Click here for a picture of Paige with the girls in April) Also, my cousins daughter (Amy) in Illinois e-mailed and said she wanted to do something in honor of Paige. She approached her Girl Scout group and they are planning a car wash and are donating the proceeds to Neuroblastoma research at the University of Michigan. What awesome friends and family we have. We've received so many nice phone calls and e-mails to check and see how we're doing. Please know how grateful we are to each and everyone of you for all your love, prayers and continued support. Love, Andy & Sandi |
