| May 1, 2004 Saturday Day +57 of Transplant Hi to everyone. We're happy to say we were able to come home yesterday afternoon. While she still complains of pain in the right leg the oxycodone seems to working well. On Thursday she received a one-time dose of radiation to her head, right arm and right leg. This was given for mainly pain relief and can be repeated again if needed. We're praying that the combination of chemo and radiation will hold her disease off until the scheduled MIBG therapy on May 19th. Dr. Yanik was in yesterday and said there had been a cancellation for around May 26th, so if she were to get in trouble and start progressing quickly they would be able to give her more chemo and re-schedule for the MIBG therapy for the 26th. The plan, which of course is subject to change, is to be seen at Hurley Monday and Wednesday for bloodwork, and return to Ann Arbor on Friday so Dr. Yanik can examine her. On May 11th and 12th she is scheduled for pre-MIBG therapy tests, which included repeating the CT of her head, abdomen, chest and pelvis. She will then be admitted to the General Clinic Research Center at the main University Hospital on May 18th and the therapy is to be started on May 19th. The actual infusion will only take about two hours, but because she will be considered radioactive she will require isolation for about 3-5 days. During this isolation our time with her will be very limited, only a few minutes a day. Of course we're concerned with how she will handle this, but hopefully with sedation it won't be a problem. Until then, we keep our fingers crossed and pray that everything goes as planned. We'll update soon :) Love, Andy, Sandi & Paige |
