| March 19, 2004 Friday Day +15 of Transplant We're excited to say Paige was discharged today and we arrived home around 4 p.m. She's feeling good and has been smiling and playing since we came home. Soon after we arrived the home care agency came with her medications, IV fluids, etc. Paige wasn't too thrilled to see the IV pole come rolling through the door, but as soon as she found out mommy would be giving the meds she didn't put up a fight. It's about 9:30 now and we just connected her to the IV for hydration during the night (70 cc/hr for 10 hours). We will continue to give her the IV antibiotics (Cipro and Zyvox) a few times a day for two weeks. We return to the clinic Monday for follow-up. Dr. Yanik was in to see us before discharge. He has decided to repeat the CT of the abdomen on April 1st and will then confer with surgeon again to decide if surgery for removal of the primary adrenal tumor is an option. The other scans are still planned for April 21st and 22nd. He also plans to start her on oral Accutane at day 28. I'll be more specific about dates and new drugs on the next update. It's been a long day, but we at least wanted everyone to know we're home :) Love to all, Andy, Sandi & Paige |
